The Strangest Secret

The following video is by Earl Nightingale, the father of personal development. As a Personal Coach myself, I have been inspired by Mr.Nightingale's words on many occasions.

While his message is more commonly understood today, it was a groundbreaking presentation in it's day. The lesson is still as valuable as ever... "We Become What We Think About"...

Success can be such a difficult idea to define. When I heard Earl Nightingale's definition, I thought it was the best one I had ever heard. 'Success in the progressive realization of a worthy ideal."

At first glance it may appear simple - set a goal and start working towards it. But when you really think about it his definition it goes much deeper.

It was the phrase 'worthy ideal' that really caught my attention. This is actually an idea that I once heard Bob Proctor discuss and it really helped me make sense of it all. He said that an 'ideal' is an idea that you fall in love with. A worthy ideal is then, in essence, a definite purpose for your life. And really, that is the essence of all self development programs.

We all have the opportunity to discover what our definite major purpose in life is. Once we know it and define it in such a way that it makes sense to us mentally and emotionally, we can begin to make plans to 'progressively realize' it.

For all of my coaching clients, I always suggest that every person should be very interested in finding, defining and clarifying their definite major purpose in life. If you have not done this exercise before, I strongly suggest you download my 7 Part e-Course from my Success Coach home page
